Keith Hernandez is an American retired baseball player who spent 17 seasons in the Major League Baseball (MLB) playing as a first baseman. He was born on October 20, 1953, in San Francisco, California. Hernandez started his baseball career while still studying at Capuchino High School in San Bruno. He later attended the College of San Mateo before playing minor league baseball for the Modesto Reds, Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs, and the Tulsa Oilers. More about Keith Hernandez

In 1974, Keith Hernandez made his MLB debut for the St. Louis Cardinals where he played for 10 seasons. He became one of the best first basemen in the league, winning six consecutive Gold Glove Awards as the National League's best-fielding first baseman from 1978 to 1983. He also won two World Series with the Cardinals in 1982 and New York Mets in 1986. Hernandez appeared in five All-Star games and won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1979.
