Puckett's skills on the field quickly earned him recognition from both fans and peers. He was a ten-time All-Star, a six-time Gold Glove winner, and won numerous other awards, including being named the American League's Most Valuable Player in 1991. But perhaps his most memorable accomplishment was leading the Minnesota Twins to two World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. In the 1991 World Series, he had a legendary game six, where he made a game-saving catch and hit a walk-off home run to force a game seven, which the Twins went on to win. Puckett's achievements earned him a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame, where he was posthumously inducted in 2001.

Sadly, Puckett's baseball career came to an abrupt end when he suffered several eye injuries, forcing him to retire in 1996. He was inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame in 1999, and his number 34 was retired by the team. On March 6, 2006, at the age of 45, Puckett suffered a stroke and later died the following day. His untimely passing was mourned by thousands of fans, and he continues to be remembered as one of the greatest players in Twins history. Read even more about Kirby Puckett at Wikipedia
