Lindy McDaniel Autographs
Lindy McDaniel was a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for 21 seasons spanning from 1955 to 1975. In his distinguished career, McDaniel played for several teams including the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and New York Yankees among others. McDaniel was known for his excellent control and longevity, as he pitched into his 40s and recorded a vast amount of appearances and saves over his career.
McDaniel is regarded as one of the best relief pitchers of his time, recording 174 career saves and a 3.45 ERA. He was named an All-Star in 1960 and 1963 and even finished second place in the Cy Young voting in 1960. McDaniel's best season came in 1966 for the Cubs where he recorded 26 saves and a 1.77 ERA, earning him a spot in the top five of the MVP voting. Throughout McDaniel's career, he played a huge role in several pennant races, including winning a World Series with the Cardinals in 1964.
McDaniel retired from baseball in 1975 but continued his involvement in the sport by becoming a coach for several Minor League teams. He was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1995, and his name is also listed on the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame. McDaniel will always be remembered for his impressive record and contributions to the game of baseball, cementing his place as one of the greatest relief pitches of all time.
