Manny Ramirez, born on May 30, 1972, is a former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues for 19 seasons. He is widely recognized as one of the most feared right-handed hitters in baseball history. Ramirez began his career in 1991 when he signed with the Cleveland Indians as an amateur free agent. He quickly made a name for himself, earning the nickname “ManRam” for his incredible hitting ability and smooth swing. Ramirez was a 12 time all-star, 9-time silver slugger award winner, and helped lead the Boston Red Sox to two World Series Championships in 2004 and 2007.
Throughout his career, Ramirez was known for his unique personality both on and off the field. While he was an incredibly successful hitter, he was also known for his quirky behavior and antics. One notable moment was in 2004 when he famously cut off his long dreadlocks in the middle of a game to protest a slow start to the season. Despite his personality, Ramirez was celebrated for his incredible talent at the plate. He finished his career with 2,574 hits, 555 home runs, and a .312 batting average.
Ramirez was known for his incredible power and ability to hit in clutch situations. He was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2017, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest hitters of all time.
