Mark Langston

Mark Langston is a retired American professional baseball player, born on August 20, 1960, in San Diego, California. He asserted himself as one of the best strikeout pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB) history, sporting a languid pitching style that created arching curveballs and unadulterated fastballs that left batters flustered. Langston’s career spanned from 1984 to 1999, during which he played for eight clubs, including the Seattle Mariners, Montreal Expos, California Angels, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees. Langston’s name first appeared in the MLB in 1984 playing for the Seattle Mariners, where he quickly rose to become a formidable pitcher, leading the American League in strikeouts that year. He later moved on to play for the Montreal Expos, where he struck out 200 batters, a feat he accomplished in 7 seasons. Langston joined California Angels in 1990 in exchange for four players as it was the team's effort to improve their pitcher roster, which was paying off as they reached the postseason in his first season with the team. His contribution helped them reach the playoffs again in 1995.

Langston finally retired from baseball in 1999 with a career strikeout of 2,464 and a win-loss record of 179-158. He was inducted into the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame in 2007, an accolade that cemented his legacy as one of the club's most significant players ever.
