Mark Loretta Autographs
Mark Loretta was born on August 14, 1971, in Santa Monica, California. He attended the University of Northwestern, where he played college baseball, and led the team in hitting in his junior year. After graduating in 1993, he got his career start in professional baseball as an infielder with the Milwaukee Brewers. He spent parts of six seasons with the Brewers, playing primarily at second base, before joining the Houston Astros in 2002.
Loretta had his best seasons with the Houston Astros, where he earned two All-Star selections in 2003 and 2004. He set a career-high batting average of .335 during the 2004 season and led the National League in hitting with a .335 batting average. He also won his only Silver Slugger award that year. In 2005, Loretta joined the San Diego Padres and spent two seasons with the team. In 2006, he was named the Padres’ team MVP while leading the National League in hits.
After leaving the Padres in 2008, Loretta played one season with the Houston Astros, then one season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and finally ended his career with the Boston Red Sox in 2009. Throughout his baseball career, Loretta was known for his consistency on both offense and defense. He finished with a career batting average of .295, a .360 on-base percentage, and a .397 slugging percentage. Loretta was instrumental in leading his team to eight playoff appearances throughout his career. Today, he works as an executive advisor for the San Diego Padres after retiring from baseball.
