Mark McGwire was born on October 1, 1963 in Pomona, California. He was one of the most feared power hitters of his generation, known for his massive build and remarkable ability to hit towering home runs. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 1984 and quickly made a name for himself as a rookie, hitting 49 home runs and driving in 118 runs in just 127 games. He would go on to have an illustrious career, playing for the Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Dodgers, and hitting a total of 583 home runs, which is the 10th highest total in baseball history.
