Mark Mulder is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Born in 1977 in South Holland, Illinois, he grew up playing baseball and football at Thornwood High School. He was selected as the second overall pick in the 1998 MLB draft by the Oakland Athletics after an impressive college career at Michigan State University. Mulder’s rookie year was in 2000, and he quickly became a key member of the Athletics’ pitching staff. He was part of the team that won the American League West division five years in a row from 2000-2004.
