Williams made his MLB debut for the Giants in 1987, where he played for ten seasons. During his time with the Giants, he became one of the most prominent power hitters in the league. He hit 247 homers and drove in 732 runs, and was productive defensively as well, earning a Gold Glove award in 1994. Williams' best season offensively came in 1994 when he led the league with 43 home runs and was second with 96 RBIs in 112 games, which earned him the National League (NL) Player of the Month honors. He also played for the Cleveland Indians, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Texas Rangers before retiring from the league in 2003.

Williams' MLB career stat line includes 378 home runs, 1218 RBIs, and a .268 batting average. Williams was a five-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, and a three-time Silver Slugger award recipient. Williams also played in three World Series, won one, and made it to the postseason nine times throughout his career.
