Maury Wills was born on October 2, 1932, in Washington, D.C. and started his baseball career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1959. Wills played as a shortstop and was known for his base-stealing abilities. In 1962, he broke Ty Cobb's single-season stolen base record, stealing 104 bases and leading the National League in that category for six seasons.
