Mickey Morandini Autographs
Mickey Morandini was born on April 22, 1966, in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He attended Indiana Area Senior High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he played baseball. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fifth round of the 1988 Major League Baseball draft. Morandini made his major league debut on April 20, 1990, against the Cincinnati Reds.
Morandini played for the Phillies from 1990 to 1997. He was known for his solid defense and ability to get on base. He was a fan favorite and played a key role in the Phillies' 1993 National League Championship season. He hit .283 with 4 home runs, 46 RBI, and 27 stolen bases that year. He also had a memorable moment in Game 6 of the 1993 World Series, when he made a diving play to end a Toronto Blue Jays rally.
After leaving the Phillies, Morandini played for the Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Philadelphia Phillies again, before retiring in 2000. Over his career, he had a .268 batting average, 32 home runs, 351 RBI, and 123 stolen bases. After retiring from playing, he worked as a coach in the Phillies' minor league system and also served as the head baseball coach at Valparaiso University from 2010 to 2018. In 2019, he was named the manager of the Clearwater Threshers, a minor league affiliate of the Phillies.
