Mike Lowell is a former baseball player, born on February 24, 1974, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Lowell started his baseball career in 1995 when he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 20th round of the MLB draft. He made his Major League debut on September 13, 1998, with the Yankees, but he played for just a year with them. Lowell spent seven seasons with the Florida Marlins and played a crucial role in the team's World Series victory in 2003. During his time with the Marlins, Lowell was known for his excellent defense and powerful hitting. He received the Gold Glove award in 2005 and was a three-time All-Star as well. In 2005, he hit .236 with 12 homers and 47 RBI in 122 games; the following year, he improved his numbers to .280, 20 homers, and 80 RBI in 150 games.
