Mike Mussina Autographs
Mike Mussina was a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees during his 18-year career. Born on December 8, 1968, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Mussina was an outstanding athlete growing up and played both baseball and basketball in high school. He graduated from Montoursville Area High School in 1987 and went on to attend Stanford University, where he was a standout pitcher.
Mussina was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 1990 MLB draft after his junior year at Stanford. He made his major league debut in August of 1991 and quickly established himself as one of the most talented young pitchers in the league. He spent 10 seasons with the Orioles, earning five All-Star selections and finishing in the top ten in Cy Young voting six times. In 2001, he signed with the New York Yankees and played the final eight seasons of his career with the team. He was a crucial part of the Yankees' success during that time period, earning two more All-Star selections and helping the team win a World Series championship in 2009.
During his career, Mussina was known for his exceptional control and ability to pitch deep into games. He finished with a career record of 270-153, a 3.68 ERA, and 2,813 strikeouts, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. Off the field, Mussina is known for his philanthropy, including his work with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, which benefits at-risk youth. He currently resides in Montoursville, Pennsylvania with his family.
