One of Torrez's most memorable moments was during the 1977 World Series when he was pitching for the Yankees. In Game 6, he faced off against the Los Angeles Dodgers and their star pitcher, Don Sutton. Torrez pitched a complete game, allowing only one run, and the Yankees went on to win the game and the World Series. Torrez retired from baseball in 1984 and currently resides in Topeka, Kansas.
