Mitch Meluskey Autographs
Mitch Meluskey was born on June 18, 1973, in Edgewater Park, New Jersey, USA. He is a former professional baseball player who spent six seasons as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). Meluskey played for several teams including the Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, and the Colorado Rockies. However, his most successful and longest stint was with the Astros between 1998 and 2001.
Meluskey was drafted by the Astros in the 13th round of the 1992 MLB Draft after playing college baseball at Clemson University. He made his MLB debut in 1998 and went on to hit .300 in his rookie season. In 1999, Meluskey led all MLB catchers in batting average with .310 and was named the Astros' Most Valuable Player (MVP). He continued to have a solid batting performance throughout his career, hitting .267 overall with 45 home runs and 214 RBIs in 539 career games.
Unfortunately, injuries cut short Meluskey's career. He struggled with back issues and played his final MLB game in 2004. After retiring from baseball, he became a part-time scout for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Meluskey is currently involved in coaching youth baseball in his hometown of New Jersey and is also a regular contributor to the MLB Network.
