He is a first baseman and began his professional baseball career in 2007 when he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 17th round of the MLB draft. Moreland played first base for the Texas Rangers for seven seasons, from 2010 to 2016. He played in 799 games, had a batting average of .254, and hit 110 home runs for the team.
