Ned Yost Autographs
Ned Yost is a former Major League Baseball catcher who went on to have a successful career as a manager. He was born on August 19, 1954, in Eureka, California. Yost attended Liberty University, where he played four years of college baseball.
In 1980, Yost made his major league debut with the Milwaukee Brewers. He spent the next few seasons as a backup catcher before becoming the starting catcher in 1983. Yost played for the Brewers until 1985, when he was traded to the Texas Rangers. He played one season for the Rangers before being released and signing with the Montreal Expos. Yost's playing career ended in 1987, and he finished with a career batting average of .212.
After retiring as a player, Yost became a coach in the Atlanta Braves organization. He served as the bullpen coach for the 1991 Braves team that won the National League pennant. Yost went on to become the Braves' third-base coach and spent 12 seasons with the team. In 2003, Yost was hired as the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers. He managed the Brewers for six seasons before being fired midway through the 2008 season. In 2010, Yost was hired as the manager of the Kansas City Royals. He led the Royals to the World Series in 2014 and 2015, winning the championship in 2015. Yost retired as manager of the Royals in 2019.
