Nick Swisher is a retired professional baseball player best known for his time with several Major League Baseball teams, including the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Indians. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1980 and went to high school at Parkersburg High School in West Virginia. Swisher was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round (16th overall) of the 2002 MLB draft. He made his major league debut in 2004 and quickly established himself as a solid hitter and outfielder. Swisher played five seasons with the A's, earning All-Star honors in 2010. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2008 and then to the New York Yankees in 2009, where he won a World Series championship in his first season with the team.
