Omar Minaya is a former general manager of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on November 10, 1958, in Peravia, Dominican Republic. Minaya was known as an excellent talent scout and is credited with the development of many players who have gone on to become stars in the league. Minaya's baseball career began with an internship with the Texas Rangers in 1985. He subsequently held positions with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the San Francisco Giants, and the New York Mets.
