Orlando Cepeda was born on September 17, 1937, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was a professional baseball player who played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1958 to 1974. He played as a first baseman and went on to become one of the best sluggers of his era. Orlando Cepeda started his baseball career in Puerto Rico, where he played for the Santurce Crabbers. In his first year with the Giants, Cepeda won the National League Rookie of the Year award. He then went on to have a stellar career, playing for the Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Atlanta Braves, the Oakland Athletics, and the Boston Red Sox. He was selected to play in 11 All-Star Games during his career and won the Most Valuable Player award in the 1967 National League Championship Series while playing for the Cardinals. Cepeda is known for his incredible power hitting, as he hit 379 home runs and had a batting average of .297 over his 17-year career.
