Paul Blair was a center fielder who played in Major League Baseball for 17 seasons from 1964 to 1980. He was born on February 1, 1944, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Blair began his professional baseball career in 1962 after signing with the New York Yankees. Blair won eight Gold Gloves during his career, which is tied for the third-most all-time among outfielders. He was known for his incredible range in center field and his ability to track down fly balls that seemed destined to be hits. Blair played for several teams during his career, including the Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, and New York Mets. He was a two-time All-Star and helped the Orioles win two World Series championships in 1966 and 1970.

Blair retired from baseball in 1980 and went on to work as a coach and a scout for several teams. He was inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame in 1984, and his number 6 was retired by the team in 1987. Blair passed away on December 26, 2013, at the age of 69. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest defensive players in the history of baseball.
