Paul Molitor

Paul Molitor was an American professional baseball player who spent the majority of his 21-year Major League Baseball career playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Minnesota Twins. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1956, Molitor played college baseball for the University of Minnesota before being drafted by the Brewers in 1977. He quickly became a standout performer for the team, earning the nickname "The Ignitor" for his ability to start off rallies with his impressive base running and hitting skills. Throughout his career, Molitor was known for his versatility and consistency on the field. He played multiple positions, including third base, second base, and designated hitter, and was renowned for his exceptional base running ability. Over the course of his career, Molitor earned seven All-Star Game selections, four Silver Slugger Awards, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also one of just four players in MLB history to record 3,000 hits, 500 stolen bases, and a .300 batting average, showcasing his complete dominance and skill as a player.

Even after retiring from baseball in 1998, Molitor remained involved in the sport, serving as a hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners and the Twins before eventually becoming the head coach of his alma mater, the University of Minnesota.
