Pete LaCock is a former American professional baseball player who was born on January 17, 1952, in Burbank, California. He was the son of Peter Marshall, a popular game show host, and Ginny Marshall, an actress, and was later adopted by his stepfather, Roy LaCock. In 1972, LaCock was drafted in the third round by the Kansas City Royals. Throughout his ten-year Major League Baseball career, he played for the Royals, Chicago Cubs, and the Oakland Athletics. LaCock is best known for his time with the Royals and his knack for pinch-hitting. In 1977, he was named Kansas City Royals Player of the Year, batting .308 with 13 home runs and 70 runs batted in. Overall, he played in 544 games, with 414 hits, 44 home runs, and 226 runs batted in.

After his playing career, LaCock worked as a broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs and as a hitting coach for the Baltimore Orioles. LaCock was inducted into the San Diego State Hall of Fame in 2003. In addition to his baseball career, he has appeared on a number of game shows, including "The Newlywed Game" and "Match Game."
