In his five-year tenure with the New York Yankees, Phil Linz played in 228 games, batting .235 with 6 home runs and 36 runs batted in. He played multiple positions, including shortstop, second base, and outfield. He was known for his steady defense and his ability to come off the bench and provide a spark for the team. One of his most famous moments came in 1964 when he played the harmonica on the team bus, which caused a rift between him and manager Yogi Berra. This incident was featured prominently in Jim Bouton's book “Ball Four.”

After retiring from baseball, Phil Linz went on to have a long career in the music industry, working as a booking agent and manager for various artists. He is also the founder of the Phil Linz Foundation, which supports youth baseball and softball programs in Maryland. Even though his baseball career was relatively short, Phil Linz is remembered as a versatile player and an integral part of the New York Yankees' World Series-winning team in 1962.
