Red Munger Autographs
Red Munger was a well-known baseball pitcher during the 1940s and 1950s. Born on October 27, 1918, in Houston, Texas, he grew up playing baseball and other sports. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1938 and made his major league debut with them in 1943. During his career, he played for the Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Chicago Cubs.
Munger was a skilled pitcher with an impressive fastball and a sharp curveball. He had a record of 76-62 with an ERA of 3.64 and 423 strikeouts during his nine-year career in the major leagues. He was most effective as a relief pitcher and was known for his ability to pitch in clutch situations. Munger played in two World Series with the Cardinals (1943 and 1946), winning the latter.
After his playing career, Munger became a baseball coach at the college level. He coached at Texas Tech University and the University of Houston, where he mentored some of the game's greatest players, such as Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens. Munger passed away on June 1, 1996, but he is remembered as a skilled pitcher, a fierce competitor, and a respected coach in the world of baseball.
