He attended JSerra Catholic High School, where he played baseball and was named the 2016-2017 Gatorade California Player of the Year. Lewis started playing in the minor leagues in 2017, beginning with the Gulf Coast League Twins. In 2018, he played for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and was awarded the Midwest League MVP Award. His success continued in 2019 when he was promoted to the Fort Myers Miracle, where he hit .236 with 12 home runs and 49 RBIs.
