Scott McGregor is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for the Baltimore Orioles from 1976 to 1988. Born on January 18, 1954, in Inglewood, California, McGregor was a standout athlete in high school, excelling in both football and baseball. Throughout his career, McGregor was known for his ability to throw strikes and keep hitters off balance with his breaking pitches. He was a key member of the Orioles' pitching staff during their successful years in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which included five postseason appearances and a World Series championship in 1983. McGregor's most memorable performance came in Game 5 of the 1983 World Series, when he pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Orioles to victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Over the course of his 13-year career, McGregor compiled a record of 138-108 with a 3.99 ERA and 68 complete games. He was also named to the American League All-Star team in 1981 and finished in the top 10 in Cy Young Award voting twice. After retiring from baseball in 1989, McGregor went on to coach at various levels, including at his alma mater, California State University, Long Beach. Today, he is remembered as one of the greatest pitchers in Orioles history and a key contributor to their success during the 1980s.
