Sean Casey is a former Major League Baseball first baseman who played for the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox over a 12-year career. Born in 1974 in New Jersey, Casey grew up playing baseball and football and attended the University of Richmond, where he played college baseball. He was drafted by the Indians in the second round of the 1995 MLB draft and made his major league debut in 1997. More about Sean Casey

Casey is best known for his time with the Reds, where he played from 1998 to 2005 and was named an All-Star three times. He was a fan favorite in Cincinnati for his energetic style of play and his positive attitude. In 1999, Casey led the National League with a .332 batting average, and in 2004 he hit .324 with 24 home runs and 99 runs batted in, helping the Reds win the National League Central Division.

After leaving the Reds, Casey played for several more seasons with various teams before retiring in 2008. He finished his career with a .302 batting average, 130 home runs, and 735 runs batted in. Since retiring, Casey has worked as a baseball analyst for MLB Network and ESPN, and has also been involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Miracle League, which provides opportunities for children with disabilities to play baseball.
