Seth Lugo is a professional baseball player who was born on November 17, 1989, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up in Louisiana and attended Centenary College of Louisiana for college. Lugo began his baseball career in 2011, when he was selected in the 34th round of the MLB draft by the Texas Rangers.
After spending two seasons in the Rangers organization, Lugo was traded to the New York Mets in a deal that sent outfielder Carlos Beltran to Texas. He made his MLB debut for the Mets in 2016 and has since become a reliable member of their pitching staff. Lugo has been primarily used as a reliever, but has also started games for the Mets. He has developed a reputation as a pitcher who can get strikeouts when needed, with a career strikeout rate of 9.1 per nine innings.
Lugo's best season came in 2019, when he played in 61 games and posted an ERA of 2.70 with a 7-4 record. He also recorded six saves that year.
