Shawn Green is a retired Canadian-American professional baseball player. He was born on November 10, 1972, in Des Plaines, Illinois, but grew up in Tustin, California. Green is an outfielder who played a total of 15 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). He began his career as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993, and he played four seasons with the team before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1999. More about Shawn Green

Green had an impressive baseball career throughout his years in the MLB. His best season was in 2001 when he set a record for the most home runs hit in a season by a left-handed batter with the Dodgers. He had a total of 49 home runs that season, earning him a spot in the All-Star Game and finishing second in the National League MVP voting. Green had a career batting average of .283, with 328 home runs, 1,070 RBI, and 1,160 runs scored. He also has the distinction of recording over 200 home runs both as a right fielder and first baseman.

In 2005, Green announced his retirement from baseball. He is considered as one of the best Canadian baseball players of all time, being inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014. Green has also been active in various charitable organizations, including the Canadian Friends of the Israel Museum and the Jewish National Fund. After retiring from baseball, he also became an author, publishing a book called "The Way of Baseball: Finding Stillness at 95 MPH," in which he shares his philosophy on baseball and life based on his experiences on the field.
