Sid Monge Autographs
Sid Monge is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for eight seasons from 1975-1984. He was born on April 11, 1951, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, and began his professional career as an amateur free agent with the California Angels in 1970. Monge was a left-handed pitcher who quickly rose through the ranks of the minor leagues, joining the Angels' roster in 1975, where he played for two seasons.
Monge's best years in the MLB came when he played for the Cleveland Indians. From 1977-1982, he was a regular member of the team's bullpen and recorded a 3.25 earned run average (ERA) during this period. He performed so well that the Detroit Tigers traded for him in 1983, where he played for one season before being released. He then signed with the San Diego Padres, where he played for one more season before retiring in 1984. Over his career, Monge had a 3.54 ERA and a record of 48 wins and 39 losses.
Today, he is retired from baseball and runs a restaurant with his family in San Diego. Monge's career was notable for his impressive work as a left-handed relief pitcher, and he played for several teams that were at different stages of their development. Despite not making it to the All-Star Game and not being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, his contribution to baseball is undeniable.
