Lombardozzi is best known for his time with the Minnesota Twins, where he played from 1985 to 1989. He was a versatile infielder who played a key role in the Twins' 1987 World Series championship team. In game seven of the series against the St. Louis Cardinals, Lombardozzi started a crucial double play that helped the Twins secure their first championship in franchise history.

Lombardozzi’s statistics in Major League Baseball are modest, but he was admired for his hard work and versatility. He retired from playing baseball in 1994 with a career average of .238, 8 home runs, and 142 runs batted in (RBIs). Lombardozzi served as a coach for the Washington Nationals and in 2018, he was the manager of the St. Paul Saints, an independent minor league baseball team. Lombardozzi’s contribution to the Minnesota Twins is significant, and he will always be remembered as a key player in the franchise’s first World Series title.
