T.J. Mathews Autographs

T.J. Mathews is a former professional baseball player who was born on December 5, 1970, in Belleville, Illinois. Mathews attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, where he played college baseball for the Salukis. After being drafted in the fifth round by the Oakland Athletics in the 1993 Major League Baseball draft, Mathews began his professional career with the Southern Oregon Timberjacks.
Over the course of his 9-year MLB career, T.J. Mathews played for Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Philadelphia Phillies. He finished his career with a 35-28 win-loss record, 20 saves, and a 3.88 ERA. His best season came in 2000 when he posted a 6-3 record with 10 saves and a 2.52 ERA as a member of the Cardinals. Mathews was also on the 2001 Oakland Athletics team that won a record 20 consecutive games, and he appeared in two games during the American League Division Series that year.
After his playing days, T.J. Mathews has remained active in baseball. He served as a pitching coach in various minor-league organizations, including the Rockford Aviators and the Traverse City Beach Bums. Additionally, Mathews remains involved with the Southern Illinois University baseball program, where he occasionally helps coach, mentor, and develop the next generation of baseball players.
