Tim McCarver is a former Major League Baseball catcher and current television and radio broadcaster. He was born on October 16, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up playing baseball. In 1959, McCarver was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as a free agent, and he made his debut with the team in 1963. More about Tim McCarver

McCarver played in the Major Leagues for 21 seasons, playing for the Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, and Texas Rangers. He was a two-time All-Star and was a member of two World Series championship teams, in 1964 and 1967, both with the Cardinals. He was known for his strong defensive skills as a catcher, but also hit .271 for his career with 141 home runs and 645 runs batted in.
