Glavine began his professional baseball journey when he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 1984 Major League Baseball draft. After spending a few seasons in the minor leagues, he made his major league debut in 1987. In the 1990s, Glavine was part of the Atlanta Braves' legendary pitching rotation known as the "Big Three" along with Greg Maddux and John Smoltz. Glavine won his first Cy Young Award in 1991 after posting a 20-11 record and a 2.55 ERA. He added another Cy Young Award to his collection in 1998 with a 20-6 record and a league-leading 2.47 ERA.

In 2003, Glavine was traded to the New York Mets and spent five seasons with the team. In 2007, he earned his 300th career victory, which made him one of only 24 pitchers in Major League Baseball history to reach that milestone. In 2010, Glavine retired from baseball with a career record of 305-203, a 3.54 ERA, and 2,607 strikeouts. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014, cementing his status as one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game. Read even more about Tom Glavine at Wikipedia
