Seaver's time with the Mets is arguably the most significant period of his baseball career. He helped lead the team to its first World Series victory in 1969, winning the National League Cy Young Award that season and establishing himself as one of the best pitchers in the league. Seaver continued to play for the Mets until 1977, earning three Cy Young Awards and six All-Star selections during that time. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1977 and went on to play for the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox before retiring in 1986.

Over the course of his career, Seaver amassed impressive statistics, including 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, and a 2.86 ERA. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 and remains one of the most beloved and respected players in the sport's history. Seaver passed away in 2020 at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy as one of baseball's greatest pitchers and a true icon of the game. Read even more about Tom Seaver at Wikipedia
