Tommy Murphy Autographs
Tommy Murphy was born on October 27, 1979, in West Covina, California. Murphy was a talented athlete since his early age and was interested in several sports activities. However, his main passion was baseball, and he pursued it throughout his academic and professional career. During his high school years, Tommy Murphy played as a shortstop and was named First-Team All-Sierra League for three straight years. Later, he attended California State University of Northridge, where he played as an outfielder for the Matadors baseball team.
Tommy Murphy started his professional baseball career in 2002 when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the third round. He worked his way through the minor leagues and made his major league debut in June 2006 as a pinch-runner. Murphy's breakthrough performance came against the Detroit Tigers, where he hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and achieved a career-high six RBIs. Murphy's 2006 and 2007 performances were the best seasons of his career, appearing in 106 games over the two seasons and holding a .286 batting average.
In his seven years of major league career, Tommy Murphy played for five teams, including LA Angels, Oakland Athletics, Tampa Bay Rays, Philadelphia Phillies, and New York Mets. He hit 18 home runs with a .249 batting average in 249 games played in the majors. Though he struggled to establish as a regular player, Tommy Murphy made significant contributions to his teams throughout his career. After retiring from baseball, he became an institutional sales specialist for D.A. Davidson & Co. based in Los Angeles.
