Trevor May is an American professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on September 23, 1989, in Longview, Washington, and attended Kelso High School. May was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fourth round of the 2008 MLB draft, and he began his professional career in the Phillies' minor league system, where he spent six seasons before making his MLB debut.
May made his MLB debut on August 9, 2014, for the Minnesota Twins, where he spent five seasons as a starting pitcher and relief pitcher. During his time with the Twins, he compiled a 23-21 record with a 4.44 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 372 strikeouts in 326 innings. He was also named Twins' Pitcher of the Month in June 2015 and August 2016.
In December 2019, May signed a two-year $15.5 million contract with the New York Mets, where he currently serves as a relief pitcher. In his first season with the Mets, May contributed to the team's wild card playoff run with a 3.86 ERA and a career-high 38 strikeouts in just 23.1 innings. May is known for his fastball, which can reach up to 98 mph, and his curveball, which has been a valuable pitch for him throughout his career.
