Turk Lown Autograph

Turk Lown was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played for various teams between 1951 to 1962. Born on May 30, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, Lown began his baseball career as an infielder but later switched to pitching. After playing baseball for Abraham Lincoln High School and Long Island University, Lown was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1942. During his baseball career, Lown was known for his sinkerball and great control. He played for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cincinnati Reds. His best year came in 1959 when he posted a 14-5 record and a 2.69 ERA for the White Sox. He also earned two saves during the World Series while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. With a career record of 92-95 and a 3.77 ERA, Lown retired in 1962.

After retiring from the game, Lown worked as a scout for various teams, including the Astros and the Yankees. He also worked as a coach for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Seattle Pilots.
