Martinez was also a reliable defensive player, spending much of his time as a catcher and first baseman. After retiring from baseball in 2018, Martinez was praised for his leadership and contributions to the sport. He was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame in 2018 and remains a beloved figure in the baseball world.
