In his early years with the Oakland Athletics, Blue was named Rookie of the Year in 1971 and was a three-time All-Star in 1971, 1974, and 1975. During the 1971 season, Blue won 24 games and had an incredible 1.82 ERA, leading the Athletics to their first World Series victory since 1930. Blue's pitching skills were some of the best in the game during his prime, and he was known for having one of the most dominant curveballs of his time.

Despite his incredible career, Blue struggled with drug addiction in the late 1970s, which significantly impacted his performance on the field. However, he was able to turn his life around and went on to play for several more seasons before retiring in 1986. Blue was inducted into the Oakland Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991, and his impressive career earned him a spot in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. To this day, Blue remains one of the most memorable and successful pitchers in MLB history. Read even more about Vida Blue at Wikipedia
