Wade Boggs was an American former professional baseball player who played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for 18 seasons. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 15, 1958. Boggs played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was a member of the 3,000 hits club and he won five batting titles throughout his career. More about Wade Boggs

Boggs began his baseball career in high school where he won numerous awards and set a state record for strikeouts. He attended Lavery Junior College, where he played as a third and second baseman, which led to his first break in professional baseball. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round of the 1976 draft. He made his debut in the major league in 1982 and went on to become one of the most successful hitters in baseball history.

Throughout his career, Boggs won numerous accolades, including Silver Slugger award, Golden Glove award, and seven All-Star game selections. He set numerous records, including career batting average of .328, which ranks 33rd on the MLB all-time list. In addition, Boggs hit 118 home runs, drove in 1,014 runs and stole 24 bases.
