Wally Moon Autographs
Wally Moon was an American professional baseball player born on April 3, 1930, in Bay, Arkansas. He was primarily an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers during his 12-year long career in Major League Baseball. He started his career with the Cardinals in 1954 and immediately made a major impact by winning the National League Rookie of the Year award that year. Moon was best known for his tremendous defensive skills, especially his ability to track down fly balls quickly.
Moon's career peaked in the late 1950s when he signed with the Dodgers. He was a reliable hitter for the team and helped them win three National League pennants during his playing years. He was also a part of the Dodgers squad that won the World Series in 1959. Despite his average batting statistics, Moon had an excellent on-base percentage due to his exceptional patience and discipline at the plate. He finished his career with 142 home runs, a .289 batting average, and an OBP of .371.
After his retirement from baseball in 1965, Moon shifted his attention to farming and business. He operated a successful cotton farm in Arkansas and also served as the general manager for several minor league baseball teams. Wally Moon's contributions to the sport of baseball have been recognized by the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, which inducted him in 1981. In his memory, the University of Arkansas, located not too far from his hometown, has named their baseball stadium after him - Wally Moon Field.
