After his playing career was over, Herzog transitioned into coaching and managing. He served as the manager of the Texas Rangers for three seasons, followed by a brief stint as a coach with the California Angels. Herzog finally found success as a manager when he took over the reins of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1980. He led the Cardinals to a National League pennant in 1982 and a World Series championship in 1985. With his fast-paced, aggressive style of play, Herzog became known as the "White Rat" and is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in Cardinals history.

Herzog's passion for baseball is still evident; having spent over 60 years in baseball, he fondly recalls his days as a player and manager. His contributions to the game have been recognized, and rightfully so. Herzog was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010, which was a fitting honor for a man who lived and breathed baseball his entire life. His legacy in the game will continue to inspire generations of players, coaches, and fans of America's national pastime. Read even more about Whitey Herzog at Wikipedia
