He was a standout cornerback at the University of Southern California and played for the prestigious Trojans football team from 2001 to 2003. Poole played in 39 games and recorded 93 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble during his USC career. After his impressive college career, Will Poole was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played for the Dolphins during his rookie season, recording 41 tackles, 1 interception, and 1 sack. Poole played two seasons with the Dolphins before landing with the New England Patriots in 2006. However, he did not play for the Patriots due to a knee injury and was later released. He then signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007, but he was once again sidelined by injuries and was cut by the team in August of the same year.
