Willie Randolph is a former professional baseball player and coach who spent 18 seasons in the major leagues from 1975 to 1992. He was born in New York City in 1954 and grew up in Brooklyn, where he developed a love for the game of baseball. Randolph played mostly as a second baseman during his career, and he was known for his excellent defensive skills and ability to get on base. He spent the majority of his playing time with the New York Yankees, where he won two World Series championships in 1977 and 1978. He was also named to six All-Star teams between 1976 and 1989. Overall, Randolph finished his career with a batting average of .276, 271 stolen bases, and 1,694 hits.

After retiring from playing, Randolph became a coach and manager in the major leagues. He served as a coach for the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets before being named the manager of the Mets in 2005. Randolph led the Mets to a division title in 2006 and was named National League Manager of the Year. He later served as a coach for the Baltimore Orioles and was a finalist for the manager job with the Houston Astros in 2020.
