Yogi Berra was one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He was a catcher for the New York Yankees for 18 seasons, from 1946 to 1963. During his career, he played in 18 All-Star games, won the American League MVP award three times, and won 10 World Series championships with the Yankees. Berra was born in 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up playing baseball with his three brothers. He started his professional career with the Yankees in 1943, but his career was interrupted when he joined the Navy for two years during World War II. After the war, Berra returned to the Yankees and quickly emerged as one of the team's best players.
