Brand was a dominant player during his college years at Duke University, where he won the Naismith College Player of the Year award in 1999. Brand's skills on the basketball courts led to him being sought after by several NBA teams. In 2008, he signed a five-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. With the Sixers, Brand continued to be a productive player, albeit with less high-scoring games. He spent four years with Philadelphia before moving on to play for the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, and finally the 76ers again in 2016. Brand retired from basketball in 2017, finishing his career with career averages of 15.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game over 1,058 regular season games.
