Mark Jackson was a basketball player and coach who was born on April 1, 1965, in Brooklyn, New York. He started his basketball career at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School where he quickly gained attention for his superior skills as a point guard. After high school, Jackson went on to play college basketball for St. John’s University where he enjoyed a highly successful career. In 1987, he was drafted by the New York Knicks as the 18th overall pick in the first round. He went on to play 17 seasons in the NBA, playing for a total of 7 different teams, including the Clippers, Nuggets, Pacers, and Warriors. More about Mark Jackson

During his career, Mark Jackson was known for his court vision and ability to make his teammates better. He was an excellent passer and always seemed to know where his teammates were on the court. He had a remarkable career as a player and is considered one of the best point guards in NBA history. Some of his career highlights include being named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1988, an NBA All-Star in 1989, and leading the league in assists in 1997.

Mark Jackson retired from playing in 2004 and quickly transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching career with the Golden State Warriors in 2011 and led them to the playoffs in his second season. He continued to coach the Warriors until 2014 when he was fired despite a successful tenure that included improving the team’s performance from the previous year. Today, Mark Jackson remains a prominent figure in basketball and continues to provide analysis as an ESPN commentator.
