Khan turned professional in 2005, and within four years, he had won the WBA light-welterweight title with a first-round knockout victory over Ukrainian boxer Andreas Kotelnik. He went on to defend his title five times before a shock defeat to Lamont Peterson in 2011. Khan bounced back with impressive wins over Carlos Molina, Julio Diaz, and Devon Alexander before suffering another defeat to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in a bout in which he moved up to the middleweight category.

Throughout his boxing career, Khan was known for his lightning-fast hands and feet, defensive skills, and an aggressive fighting style that made him one of the most exciting boxers to watch. Despite some setbacks, his record stands at 34 wins and five losses, and he remains an influential figure in British boxing. Following his retirement in 2020, he has become a commentator and a promoter, and his legacy in the sport is an inspiration for many young aspirants.
